being a mom, sometimes..it's all laundry and dishes and meals and kids and snotty noses and lion king and forts and fingerprints and pretend meals and books and ironing work shirts and supporting men and all things family.
which, sometiems and MOST of the time is all right with me.
but.
everyday, it is super important to me, to do something for me.
i try reallllly hard to dedicate at least an hour a day (nap time/quiet time) to myself.
somedays (most days) that is a lunch date with the treadmill and once upon a time or the biggest loser.
+ a shower and shave (legs)
seems simple enough, right?
but if you're a mom to even one, and a wife to a hard working husband..then you know, that even a shower can be hard to get in somedays!
something else that i try to do everyday, is eat healthy. i may spend a little more at the store for fresh produce, or a little more time on a meal, to make it healthy...but it makes me feel goood!
another thing that tends to slip between the cracks, is spiritual time for myself.
time to read my scriptures and ponder..
how hard is pondering with a 2 year old? haha
it can be IMPOSSIBLE!
but, it is important, to me.
so i have to make it priority.
as in, i do it, over something else.
and the thing that makes me feeling ZERO guilt about this dedication to myself (even if it means my laundry isn't done, or even if lynley isn't sleeping in her room, but playing..or heaven forbid my computer desk that im currently sitting at be covered in papers and pens, and books...)
my family benefits from me taking time for myself.
i am happier.
i am healthier.
they are healthier.
i am more patient.
i am more fun.
i more motivated.
i am a better mom.
i am a better wife.
so, a better me, is good for them!
i hate seeing a mom, loose herself after becoming a mom...
i have been there..lost in this lonely at times job that we took on.
i feel like its a balancing act, holding on to those amazing, simple moments with our children to get us through the lonely or mundane times.
taking time for ME everyday helps me to see more of those simple beautiful times in my daily life.

Well said court! I definitley agree that a little "me" time is such a good thing to do everyday. A lot of moms forget that they still have to take care of themselves too..and that just makes it harder. Great post, your such a wonderful mom and wifey!
