christmas grinch

so, i have been feeling a lot like a christmas grinch since...thanksgiving. I used to get so excited for christmas when i was younger. now that i'm not so much younger, i'm mostly just excited for the time off work for tyler&the break from school.

here are my reasons for the grinchy-ness: what does all this commercialized stuff have to do with the birth of Christ?
why is there this huge pressure to spend $$ on presents? i mean, i guess as a kid, i couldn't sleep at ight so excited for "santa" to come. i want my kids to have those memories...but somehow i also want to incorporate the REAL REASON for Chritsmas as well.

i loved the christmas devotional last night from out first presidency. I loved how Elder Utchdorf said that if you look for the bad in Christmas, you will find it. I need to just stop looking for all the bad (like cluttery decorations...i'm just refusing them this year. we have our tree and we're callin it good!) and focus on the good.

i also loved how President Monson said that this season is a time for fun, presents, parties, ect but it CAN be successfully combined with spiritual growth and rememberance of our Savior being born.

I just want to vow, that as our family gets older, and more munchkins enter it, that we focus our christmas's on Christ. not on santa and reindeer.
