we have been looking at purchasing a camper for awhile now.. (i should say tyler has been looking)
we have looked at alot..and seen alot of gross campers haha
but yesterday, one came on KSL that was the right price, and size..so we went and took a look.
(tyler checking her out)
when lyn gave us the thumbs up, we pulled the trigger!
and we were off!
with our new (to us) camper all hooked up.
we finally made it home, and after being in the car for wayyyy too long, i agreed to give the monkey a bath. a bubble bath nonetheless. :)
why a camper?
well, i was reading in Daughters in My Kingdom, about the pioneer women. how the women physically and spiritually protected their families from the dangers they faced. At times, she would physically block the freezing wind from her sick children, or give her ration of food to her family. i can imagine that there was great teaching opportunity while relying on each other and the Lord. I feel like the bond between a family then, must've been amazingly strong..
and then we have now. cell phones never stop ringing, or beeping. my daughter begs for "shows" all day long. i have to fight her to play with her toys! violent video games, tv shows that are allowed more sexual content and bad language then ever! i mean we were watching a PG movie and it said 3 swear words! it was a half animated movie! we are "plugged in" all day long.. the totally distorted image of beauty, sexuality the roles of men and women are everywhere. i often have asked myself, how am i supposed to raise children in this day and age? the dark evil of pornography is literally just a click away..the scary things of the world is potentially in our back pockets.
i realize that i will never be able to protect my children 100% from the world. but i can make them really excited about going camping with the family for the weekend. i can make being "unplugged" every so often, a normal and expected part of our lives. i can encourage my kids to form strong bonds of friendship with their siblings, as they play pretend in the mountains, and hike, and enjoy nature, free from any technology and outside things of the world. I can have TIME with my family. Time guided by the spirit. time uninterrupted.
to me, that is key.
so, anyways, i am excited that we bought a camper. haha
we are blessed. and when we trust in the Lord, He does direct our paths..
when we desire for "things" with a righteous intent..sometimes He makes a way.
cheers to camping and campers and all things family!
