race for jake

the weekend before thanksgiving, a few ladies in my mom's ward had put together a huge event all to benefit jake and our family. it was a 5k race, with real timing chips, 26.2 donated all the race stuff. there was a giant bake sale. a HUGE raffle with giant prizes and small ones. over 600 people showed up to support jake in this fight. it was AMAZING. and i will never ever forget the love, and support that was shown to us that morning. the rain stayed at bay until the very end of the event, it was amazing. i was standing at the finish line, because i had the baby strapped to me, and i was just in tears, the entire time. so many good people, donating their time, money, services, whatever they could! jakes good friend Leo came in like 3rd.. and i burst into tears! oh how i remember jake being healthy, and i miss that. i' m sure that he misses it even more. i just was... man. jake is the boy we wanted on our team for our races because he was so dang fast! he DID walk that entire 3 miles, which was a huge deal. because of how crappy the chemo kicks his butt. anyways, it was an amazing event. a day i will never forget, truly, all 600 people made us feel so good. i will be forever thankful.
